Rhapsody on a City Night

-

By Danielle Romeo HayPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

The city speaks a lullaby

The streetlights sputtered, the streetlights muttered

The lonely sidewalk cries

The lights they keep the beat alive

The buildings standing tall watch guard

The traffic in the street goes by

The artist sings a soulful tune

The wealthy drink their weight in wine

The bridge casts shadows off the moon

The sculptures pine and the statues swoon

The square begins to lose its shine

The morning hustle comes too soon

The neon lights buzz up ahead

The billboards begin to moan and sigh

The creatures of the night collect their bread

The subway station’s left for dead

The bums who sleep on the benches rise

This empty window goes to bed
