Rewriting The Ending

The Way Forward

By Sarah JanePublished 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 1 min read

In the past

I focused on the pain

*

Now looking back

I will appreciate the love

*

The love I gave without regret

The love I felt from him

although he ran from it

*

I'll always remember

*

The way he reappeared in my life

when I needed a friend the most

*

The way our conversations

branched like a tree

*

The way he led me

through the mountains

to the waters

of a newfound paradise

*

The way we spent the evening

under the stars

bathing in intimacy

*

The way he kissed me

under the full moon passionately

wrapping his leg around me

*

The way our telepathy danced

from the moment we came into unity

*

The way we were listening

to the same album

the first night we spent together

*

The way we shared music

that speaks beyond words

*

The way we laughed together

*

The way I held him

Like the crescent moon

cradles the night sky

*

The way my back felt secure

pressed against his

when we sat on his front lawn

*

The way I supported him

when he had something difficult to confront

*

The way he helped me see through myself

The way his eyes reflected my younger self

*

The way he prayed for me

when I was in need

*

The way he looked at me

with love in his eyes

although he wouldn't speak it

*

The way he shared his poetry

in a book roughly bound

with a refined note inscribed on the inside

appreciating our connection and my open mind

*

It was the love that urged me to stay

It is the love that will allow me to fall away
