Revenge Of The Zombie Fires
a poem inspired by climate change (zombie fires, unlike surface fires, ignites below the surface, and are difficult to predict)

In the depths of despair, where shadows reside,
A tale of darkness, where hope has died,
I present to you, a grim prophecy,
The revenge of the zombie fires, a catastrophe.
Once, Earth was adorned with vibrant green,
A paradise of life, a majestic scene,
But man’s greed and ignorance took its toll,
Unleashing a horror that would consume us whole.
From the depths of the forests, they arise,
Zombie fires, fuelled by our demise,
Their flames, a sinister dance of despair,
Devouring all that was once so fair.
The air turns toxic, choking our breath,
As the flames spread, heralding our death,
The sky, once blue, now a haunting shade,
A canvas of sorrow, where hope can’t evade.
The trees, once guardians, now stand charred,
Their branches reaching out, forever scarred,
Silent witnesses to our reckless ways,
As we pay the price, in these final days.
The rivers run dry, their life force drained,
By the flames of vengeance, unrestrained,
The creatures of the wild, their cries unheard,
As their homes crumble, consumed by the absurd.
No solace in the night, no solace in the day,
Only the echoes of sorrow, as we fade away,
For in this dark tale, there is no redemption,
Only the bitter taste of our own destruction.
So heed this warning, as the zombie fires rise,
A testament to our own demise,
For in our arrogance, we sealed our fate,
And now, it’s too late, it’s too late.
Revenge of the zombie fires, a haunting dirge,
A requiem for a world lost in the surge,
May this lament serve as a solemn plea,
To cherish our Earth, and set her free.
