Reunion
We are always one to each other again
I bear witness
to distilled patience
beneath immeasurable stars
of humble spirit and ancient devotion
that will traverse every holy site
It is the pilgrimage of the faithful ones
and my sincere petition to be numbered among them
with fasting and self-sacrifice as gifts
held by a multitude of souls
Each footstep over miles
becomes a solitary sacred act
to purge existence and make life anew
And years of these rites over time
connect me to truths of
brotherhood sisterhood
as the candles burn
as though frozen by time
while the frankincense seeps
into every chest
to purify hearts and tongues
stumbling over months of human imperfections
Thus we learned
to laugh gently with ourselves
because we tried and tried
only to succeed in failure
but grace…
GRACE
delivered mortal flesh
at the outskirts of the holiest place
and laid prostrate upon stone ground to sleep
comforted under moonshine from slumber’s edges
from songs and chants of a hundred priests
Removing the weight of our journey
Reminding us of the divinity within
Restarting the age-old cycles of rebirth
