Retribution

Blade or Mercy

By Sahasra ReddyPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

Knife in my hand,

I bear the choice,

To end the pain or endure the suffering.

“Get revenge” they said,

But revenge is only best served cold,

With a hint of dilemma.

The sun descends into the horizon,

Watchful and aware of the darkness lurking,

Providing space for vengeance.

Victory is sweetest,

When it's against someone close,

Who wronged you.

Draped in red,

Fiery rage,

Time shall come for to pay for one's mistakes.

“They will get away” they say,

And I say, “If I don't stop them, then who will?”

Deep and very honest about the feeling of payback. A feeling many can relate to. Excellent poem.
