Resuscitation by Sunlight.

This poem was written during a dark moment I nearly didn’t return from. For me, sunlight wasn’t a metaphor. It was the moment I realized I was still breathing.

Lying On The Floor,

Gasping For Air.

Alone.

Broken.

Exhausted.

Haunted.

I Whisper For Help,

But Even The Silence Refuses To Answer.

I Am Not Steady.

But I Am Alive.

I’m In A Darkness

That Feels Like A Void.

The Light Shrinks,

Every Breath A Battle.

I Go Through The Motions,

Surviving One Second At A Time.

I Don’t Call This Living.

Questioning The Validity Of My Existence.

Why Do I Keep Going?

When The Autopilot Took Over,

No One Even Noticed.

I Sit There Waiting.

For Something.

For Peace.

For Release.

I’m Trapped And Moving All At The Same Time.

Frozen In A Mindset Of Pain And Darkness.

I Hate It Here.

This Void Of Feeling.

This Void Of Light.

Cold.

Lonely.

Drowning.

I Am Not Whole.

But I Am Here.

I Was Once Sunshine.

Now I’m Just A Drop In The Ocean.

Insignificant.

Gone.

Then It Happened.

As Slow As The Sun Rising.

The Rays Glistening Across The Ocean,

One By One Leading To Me.

It Was As If Time Stopped And Started

All At The Same Time.

One Look.

One Touch.

One Moment.

One Moment I Was Sinking Into Nothingness.

The Next..

It Was As If A Single Ray Of Light

Touched My Soul.

He Was The Sun.

He Was The Warmth.

He Didn’t Know How Close I Came,

To Touching The Bottom.

How Close I Came

To That Last Breath.

He Brought Me Light.

Air.

He Illuminated The Darkness

From Within.

He Brought Me Back.

He Resuscitated Me.

By Sunlight.

I know how it feels to sit in the dark and wonder if the light’s ever coming back. This was my way of saying: it does. If you’ve ever been there, or are there now, I see you. Let me know what lines stayed with you, I’d love to listen. Thank you for reading 🩵
