RESILIENCE

Poem

By Jaded | PleasuredPublished 17 days ago 1 min read
Created by me on Nightcafe

It hurts, but I will make it through.

I am dying, but that won't matter to you.

My heart is screaming, but you don't care to hear.

My tears stream down my cheeks, but you believe I am fine.

"RESILIENCE"

You have forsaken me.

With you as my title, you prevent me from falling into the depths of the abyss.

You show the world what it is like to feel strong.

But you break the minds of those who use you as chains to bind me.

"RESILIENCE"

You prevent me from being weak.

You keep my emotions in a bottle with a cork that won't pop.

And when they see you wavering in me, they place their hands on top of the cork to keep it from exploding.

"RESILIENCE"

You turn my emotions poisonous because others do not want to see you falter.

Your fumes still seep through the cork stopper, but no one sees that sometimes I need to shed these chains off me.

"RESILIENCE"

You make me want to scream because you are hurting me.

I never asked to be you; I never wanted to need you.

But now you, similar in STRENGTH, have become another link in the chains that keep me locked away.

"RESILIENCE"

It is okay, because the darkness you surround me in has become my home.

And I am learning to find peace in the absence.

"RESILIENCE"

I cannot be you forever.
