Requiem of a World Undone

an empty chair in a room of rubble

that will never hold the weight

of laughter

again.

a solitary toddler's shoe

that will never know the joy

of running

into their mother's arms.

a people displaced

that will forever hold a culture

of war torn bruises.

shriveled blades of grass

burnt to ash,

cities leveled,

blood sought after

by greed and ego...

Where there is no longer compassion

all sense of humanity

is lost.

Excellent, though heartbreaking poem. The conclusion highlights the importance of each of us showing compassion whenever we can.🩵

A well-wrought expression of a sad truth. But there is always hope!

  • really could feel the sadness of this. good job!

This is the type of content I’m used to writing! Great expression of the disconnect and depravity of humanity.
