Requests From Your Past Lover

Remember, You Forgot Me.

Don't give me your wanting eyes,

You know,

The ones that once said,

"I care."

I mean,

How is that possible?

You walked away thirty years ago,

Without a single goodbye.

Yes;

You can pretend that you missed me,

Even though you still act like I don't exist!

What do you want?

A lover or a friend?

Well, I hate to break your heart,

You were my best friend all those years ago;

But you left me drowning in the mud,

At a time when I needed you most,

And now;

You've found out that I'm married,

Happy for once,

You've been told I've been with him a long time,

But you don't know about the pain I

went through after you left,

When I lost everything,

Including myself.

Please, I beg you;

Don't stare at me like you care,

Or act like you know me,

Though you were never there.

My heart died when you went away,

Leaving me with the pain,

The trauma,

And nothing to light my way.

Yes;

I agree,

All of that pain is in my dark past,

And I am a new person today,

With a more stable life,

Along the way.

You'd be wrong to think it came easy;

You have no idea how hard it has been,

You see,

You weren't the only person I lost when

you went away.

I lost my life to the darkness,

And it took everything I had with it,

I lost my heart,

My mind,

And my whole self because you,

The only person I trusted,

Left me in the middle of trauma.

Then, someone special joined me through the storm,

He took my hand,

Accepted me,

And loved me,

Through the good times, the bad times and the heartbreak,

He married me;

And then we lost everything in the storm,

But he got back up,

Towered above me,

And pulled me up through the pain,

So that I could see the light in our hearts,

And in our life again.

Dear past lover,

I make these requests,

Please don't say you love me,

Now I am with someone else and happy,

You must move on,

And you must remember that,

Through the storm;

You forgot me.
