Today they have replaced the castle gate;
The locks are smart, protective wards are strong,
The wall is almost done – what can go wrong?
I’m sure that something will. I trust the fate.
Our skins have grown much thicker than before;
We meditate and we no longer flinch
When things are off by ONLY half an inch,
And we don’t cry when things are off by more.
It matters not, my queen, what lines they bend,
What crooked spells they use to shape the stone,
We will survive, my queen - they will atone,
The end is near. So near is the end.
