Remember, Remember the 6th of the New Year
A Modern Retelling of an English Folk Verse
Remember, remember
The sixth of the New Year
The Capitol treason and plot
I know of no reason
Why the Capitol treason
Should ever be forgot
The Donald and his cohorts
Did the scheme contrive
To overthrow the election, either
Dead or alive
Threescore rioters, a crowd began to grow
To prove the government’s overthrow
Finally stopped by Capitol Police
Though none were ready to sue for peace
So intent in their offense upon the Capitol
Erring closer and closer to capital offense
Trials found some liable, the media unreliable
The election was fair; close but bitter
Sore losers were goaded, egged on by Twitter
Some say gallows were made from a fence
All for their own Vice President Pence
But pictures on Facebook sure to prop
Were overly wrought from Photoshop
War-cries and lies led to a small insurrection
Their goal unknown and without direction
Some were angry that all voters could participate
Some still crying over a legal birth certificate
The Constitution was written and very polite
And who could vote? Men with land (and 100% white)
Is that the America that would be “Great Again”?
The Constitution is holy; to challenge it sin
But I digress and come to an end
Extremists come from without and within
And from both we must always defend
