Remember Me

Will you remember dancing alone?

Will you remember me dancing alone?

Or will you forget all that you’ve known?

Raindrops are falling on where we stood

Our spot between the hills and the wood

I chased away your troubles and doubts

Giving you me, my inside and my outs

In return, you gave me only your ghost

The aching shadow of being your almost

I was your light, but you kept me in the dark

Leaving before love glows is your trademark

Will you pretend there was never any magic?

Or will you keep living your life empty and tragic?

I would never harm you or rip apart your defenses

We both knew from the beginning what the end is

Time will march on, pulling us both further apart

But I’ll still be holding onto your spot in my heart

Will you remember me dancing alone?

Or our conversations over the phone?

If I walked by, would you call out my name?

Or would you wait for me to do the same?

Don’t you forget about me?

Remember me, please

This poem is based on the Simple Minds song “Don’t you (Forget About Me).
