Reflection Or Fantasy

Looking Glass

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Curling my fingers into a fist

Grasping tight the mystical looking glass

To glimpse the wonderland Alice dismissed

As the rabbit begged to reclaim time passed

Excitement called her out by her name

She knew not why but she could not resist

Boredom tempted fate with the tick of the clock

Craving excitement, like true love’s first kiss

Another victim of the queen of hearts

Loves illusion and all it entails

Desire and passion all doing their part

Leaving every emotion impaled

I’m wandering down the same path

Curiosity waits to be found at the door

Beyond reach and just beyond my grasp

Living life, but somehow, wanting more

Imagination gives way to delusion

That’s what imagination is for

Finding joy in the midst of confusion

Diving into your own rabbit hole

Imagination is like my best friend! Loved your poem!

  • You do realize that curiosity didn't just kill the cat. It was also Alice's downfall. Groan.

Don't we all feel like this male or female.

  • "Living life, but somehow, wanting more" -- somehow we always want more, don't we? Lovely poem!
