Red Sails In The Sunset
A sea of emotion jumping out of my pen

Red sails in the sunset
Red sails in the sunset float,
So many aliens spread germs with no antidote.
My knees ache like my broken heart;
Shame on the spaceships that had to depart.
Beams of light grace old houses with gas lamps turned;
Don’t stay out in the sunshine; the icing will burn.
A medley of musical boxes, so old they creak,
Old houses, steep staircases—quite a sight for the meek.
Doctors say close your eyes; don’t live your life bright.
Johnny has a brother; he is, oh, so dim—
Mother washes the bathtub out with a sprinkle of vim.
Red sails in the sunset, such a watery delight,
Tonight on the telly, a fab boxing fight—
Give it your all, be out to win;
How can anyone sail in all this loud din?
This one's for a contest on vocal lines,
It’s like a voice; so many good poets express their own choice.
So here’s to a win; lottery pays out high—
Don’t plant that fir tree, I’m told it grows where birds fly.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
