Hi lovely readers,

This poem was published in the Autumn 2022 Anthology by Querencia Press. I'm happy to share it with you today.

Red Maple Flowers

These delicate fire seeds came to me today.

Each one a promise, an offer

to guard me from harm.

Or perhaps they're meant to rekindle the flames of my heart.

No matter their purpose, I tucked each red jewel

into the liminal pocket of my fuzzy,

grey cardigan, my fingers

gravitating towards them, feeling their satisfying

diverse textures.

Then I sauntered home to potter about

arranging the fire seeds in patterns

as if arriving at the exact array

would somehow cause magic to blossom instantaneously.
