We live in a world with fellow humans
each with our unique hues, tones, shades.
We Have many colours, with many flaws and embracing traits
I am mixed race which was hard to understand as a child
My white skinned class mates called me a half cast
It made me ashamed of what I look like on the outside
How could I only be half when everyone else is full mast
It took many many years to understand we are all mixed race!
We all descend further back than we could possibly find
Our colours make us who we are
Our emotions allow us to feel and say what we think
We spin like a hologram in the night
Many facets, many rays, rarer than a diamond
Reflecting the whole spectrum
Strumming with a plectrum
We seem to highlight the differences in each other
And criticise what we do not know, only ends in trouble
To be accepted in this colourful world
First we must accept our own true selves
Deep down we actually are not that different
Except some have acres of space and some not even a shelf
Look a little deeper at the ever-reliant moon
ceasing to exist without the sun,
there are so many clues
The right to believe in your own Prophecy
How can we understand future Philosophies
We are unique, to a certain degree
The intricacy of each iris is clear to see
No two fingerprints are identical not even twins
Eventful team work leads to more wins
Every single one of incubated by a mother
When we arrive and scream we need lots of cuddles
Then as we grow we craft our own bubble
So it hurts less when we run into trouble
To those who are colour blind
You are already advanced,
As you don’t need the proof
of colour to understand
That spectrum exists right across the board
Claret drawn one encounter with a sword
What binds and bonds us ultimately
is just one simple colour
purer than gold, fertile and bold
Ensures as it runs we are not cold
No matter which way I seem to observe
When we cut, we all bleed
Compression and TLC a basic need
What is the shade after we’ve bled?
I’m pretty sure that colour is always red
An array, A spectrum
Projecting in many ways
Continually counting
the months, weeks & days
Even if it appears a little duller
Red is ultimately really the only colour
