Give and Take

Somewhere along the way

We’ve become lost

In transaction

Selfishly wanting

Without ever giving

Or perhaps you’re opposite

And are overly pleasing

Give give give

While others only

Take take take

Sometimes the world is harsh

Other times it's soft

Relationships require work

That never seems to stop

We pay back

What we receive from others

A favor done

Is a favor returned

Has it made you jaded

The one-sided nature

That created these

Unfair exchanges

Or has the illusion faded

Can you learn to give

Without needing to take

Start thinking of others

Before it’s too late
