Reasons For The Season

What Are Yours

I saw God waiting tables at a restaurant

He walked over to me and asked, OK, what do you want?

I paused for a moment and before I could say

He said hold that thought, before you get carried away

I meant off the menu, not that list in your head

I mean, aren’t you the one who said I wasn’t raised from the dead?

So how do you expect me to fulfill this order?

And then, he sat down and scooted even closer

He said, so what’s the hang hangup? What’s so hard to believe?

I can think of 1 million times you asked for something from me

So am I incarnate or just a genie in a bottle?

You can answer me quick or you can sit there and dottle

See, since I don’t choose if you believe in me or not

I’m here to serve breakfast, you want your sandwich hot

It’s kinda like the choices

Between heaven and hell

It depends on the voices

You listen to and well

I can give you a suggestion

If you think you can take it

Life takes some digestion

It is what you make it

But since Christmas is near

And the bells are all ringing

It can be hard to hear

Common Sense in the singing

Just remember to always do your best

enjoy what you can in this life

There’s beauty all around, I guess

you don’t have to wait till you die

I nodded and smiled

and left a tip on the table

Merry Christmas, I chimed

I know you're not a fable

Thank you for the reminder

and the choices you give

I felt something devine here

and the need to forgive

To make this season more happy and light

I'm thankful for these blessings

please, have a wonderful night

I drove away from the cafe

with a smile on my face

I took a moment to pray

and thank him for his grace

Remember if you're struggling

with what you might be believing

The moment is coming

so live your life with meaning
