Raven

They inspire me with their resilience

A raven

black as charcoal,

no color in its plumage.

Its voice is rough,

forages from trash bins,

eats stinky carrion.

No one thinks

of making them pets

or gazing at them,

in admiration,

but that's their issue

I see a raven

and feel admiration.

In that hot desert

where not many,

can survive,

it takes resourcefulness,

and immense adaptation,

to thrive,

which the raven has mastered.

Flying from,

creosote bush

to a Joshua tree,

eating varied diet,

surviving the heat—

it shows, what it takes,

to be resilient.
