You abandoned me
I know you didn't really mean to
But you did
You took me in
You cared for me
But as I slipped
You decided you were done with me
As my mind drifted further off
The faster you wanted to send me off
Out of your care
And to someone else's hands
~
But that's okay
Because I forgot
I forgot who you were
And that you abandoned me
You were just another person I saw
Day to day while someone took care of me
You would laugh and something would click
For a brief second I would remember
That you abandoned me
But then I would forget
And wonder why you looked so sad
But then I drifted off
And didn't remember anymore
~
Only after you got rid of me
Did you suddenly decide you missed me
But it didn't matter anymore
Because I couldn't remember anyway
So go on and live your life
You paid your dues
And then got rid of me
So live your life
And hopefully one day you'll forget
You'll forget how you abandoned me
~
