I Am Throwing In My Umbrella

I am going to stop entering the contests on Vocal.media. I am convinced that no matter how good my article is, I won't be picked to place.

Perhaps I will do unofficial challenges, but if I don't place in the one I recently entered, I don't know if I will even do that.

Either I can't write my way out of a paper bag so to speak, and I should hang it up, or I can't seem to impress the Vocal judges.

To solve the mystery, I am going to enter private contests as well. I have already entered a few of them, and will enter more of them in 2026.

I do not understand the judging process, and I am wondering if it is connected to Medium. A girl won a $1,000 prize about horses, that was just dreadful, but yet she won. She won the part that they had about suggested topics that would be included in the future. I didn't understand it then, because it had such a limited audience. I noticed they didn't adapt the horse topic, but she won the prize.

I am discouraged to say the least, and that won't make me spend $10 a month to continue on Vocal.Media, after January.

I won a $1 prize for an entry on DK Shepards, unofficial challenge. When I see someone's impressive winnings listed on there profile, I doubt my ability as a writer. My facebook following and that is many, enjoy my articles and I even get compliments as a writer.

I regret that I feel this way, but I am turning 76, in April of 2026, and I am in poor health, and I certainly don't have time to waste.

I am debating to try one more time, but I have very little incentive to do even that.

I will see if even the external reads give me one or two cents at a time, but I wouldn't count on it. I have to type in the url's separately to each person, I don't know how to do it any other way.

Do You Think I Will Be Renewing My Subscription To Vocal in January
