RAINBOW QUILT

The Colored Life

By Sally JacksonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

THE RAINBOW QUILT

Pull out those bad red stitches you made in your quilt.

People may not notice them in the big beige design,

but you will.

Pull them out – do a little penance and start all over again.

Make the stitches beautiful with purple around the colors

you try so hard to match.

Take responsibility for blue

for what your soul wants you to do.

Make your quilt beautiful and do no harm in sewing its patches to one.

You have a pattern in your life.

It is your yellow quest and the fulfillment

of your lavender life.

Make sure the colors don’t get muddy.

The stuffing should be big and round and full

but with crisp edges.

The design of your life should be worthy

of the depth of your heart’s green dream.

Fulfill it with each stitch until

you begin to see the pattern of your life.

You will smile when you see its rainbow beauty.

Its colors and hues will put an end to your worries

and give your heart the symmetry of depth.

Feel free and be brown proud that you have made a quilt and cover

for the coldness of your fears.

Blanket yourself in the years of its making

and enjoy each orange stitch you sew.

Learn as you sew your colored life.

And sew till you die.
