Rain

By Suhana Kumar

By Suhana KumarPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

He wished for rain,

because with it came the melancholy of yesterday.

Of damp earth and of dark skies,

of umbrellas colouring the pathways,

like a rainbow created by humankind.

He wished for rain,

so he could run from shelter to shelter without the need for an umbrella,

mapping out his exact route home,

and memorizing who he's seen,

and who he'd bump into...

He wished for rain,

as he stood outside a local cafe,

the soft strum of a guitar setting the ambiance inside,

and igniting a thousand emotions inside of him.

He would look up to see the raindrops fall in perfect harmony to the strum,

matching his beating heart.

He wished for rain,

so that when the clouds clear once again and the sun bathes the world in golden light,

he may see the world in all its glory and beauty and madness,

and have a clearer vision to what it can offer him.

But most of all,

he wished for rain,

because he hoped that when it came,

he might be able to find himself with it.
