Rain in the Heart

Drowning my soul

Rain in the Heart

Some days rise,

with heavy clouds,

pressing down,

before I even speak.

I carry weather,

no one else sees,

storms that travel,

behind my ribs.

Tears hold steady,

waiting their moment,

to fall like rain,

across hidden places.

I move slowly,

through dim hours,

feeling each thought,

hit like a cold drop.

I listen close,

to the quiet thrum,

of worry tapping,

against my mind.

The world carries on,

busy and bright,

while I walk fields,

of unsettled storm.

Yet even in this,

I learn my strength,

standing tall,

in the thick of the rain.

I breathe deeper,

than the day before,

letting the air,

push through the ache.

When the clouds lift,

as they always do,

I rise with them,

clearer than before.

And I tell myself,

with honest truth,

that storms inside,

do not mean defeat.
