Rachel’s Eyes

Poem

Rachel’s Eyes

Rachel is a big girl now, I said,

so take the blankets off her head

and let her open up her eyes

to get a glimpse of winter’s skies.

I never knew a face so wee could

show such joy and ecstasy.

As that shown in her blue eyes.

The first time Rachel saw the skies.

She gazed as a if she could not cease

at sunset clouds and tops of trees.

All the glory of the skies

was mirrored there in Rachel’s eyes.

I knew that God was still above

because his hope and peace and love

were all reflected in her eyes.

The first time Rachel saw skies.
