Put It On

masks we wear poem

By Naomi TyhurstPublished 3 months ago 1 min read

Curl the corners of your mouth high

There's no need to stretch it very wide

Just scrunch your nose and crease your eyes,

That's all it really takes to hide

No one wants to see the wounds inside

Put it on in the wild

Put it on before you speak

Put it on even if it's small

Put it on,

you must be professional

Whether you know them

or whether you don't

Curl it up and swallow the bile

All we want to see,

is the smile

Put it on even if you're sore

Put it on before you close the door

Put it on even when you cry

Put it on, this is how you hide

Just scrunch your nose and crease your eyes

And this is how you keep it all inside.
