Purple is me - Natasha L

It's Monday again, it's time for school

A teenage girl just trying to fit in

She gets dressed in the mirror, she just wants to be cool

But shes trapped within her skin

Her heart is the colour purple

And her soul waves the flag inside

But she thinks that she won't be liked

If she spreads her violet wings and takes flight

So she wears her skin like a mask and

Plays her act with all her might

Her best friend stands at the gates

Her smile ignites the purple flame within

If only she knew, how she really felt

Underneath her masquerade skin

Like a beautiful fire, burning logs in the lounge

Her friends hair shines a stunning red

She feels her warmth in every sound

And wishes she could kiss those lips, instead

But she hides away beneath her mask

She'd never fit in if they knew

And as the years pass by, her mask stays firm

And her purple heart turns blue

Blue with the sadness of living a lie

Blue with the grief of the time passed by

Blue with the worries of her families thoughts

Blue with the what ifs and the why nots

Blue on the outside, that's what everyone can see

But inside it's purple and purple

Is me
