Puppy Love

Love at first sight, but maybe not what you initially think

By Katherine GliddenPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Crystal eyes flit across the dance floor

spending time on every face

split second pauses, but nothing more

until I see you, in all your grace.

Luscious and curly black locks

fall over a cute button nose

and your smile, sharp as a fox

clenched in your teeth, a white rose.

Your movements are wild and free

completely uninhibited

I cannot help but smile with glee

at your positive energy: unlimited.

Your glistening eyes meet mine

and my pulse quickens

you begin to whine

and my heart is panic-stricken.

You bound over towards me

pink tongue flopping out of your lips,

I imagine how our life could be

and my self control slips

"Who's a good boy?"

I say with such joy

and I rub your soft belly

because now you're my puppy.
