Proud of my Colors

Light refracts and shatters into a thousand pieces.

They skip and dance in every direction, and each one takes a piece of me with it.

Emerald green finds a home in my eyes.

Sunflowers grow in the cracks of my mind.

Violet gives me the confidence to speak out my truth.

Sky blue is the color of me I let people see.

Rose is the little girl inside who just wants a friend.

The adult that grew up became pale sea foam in the end.

Lazy grey clouds help me drift back on home.

Deep plum in my heart reminds me where I came from.

My history, my family, stand as true royal blue.

My hopes and my dreams glow a rich golden hue.

Black is the pain of my loneliest memories.

White tells me I can make today a new opportunity.

All these colors shining inside of my heart, making me who I am with each little part.

I am broken and shattered, sent every which way.

I am strong and resilient, my heart on display.

I am a rainbow, a bright band of color.

I’m on a spectrum unlike any other.
