Protective Coloration

The wild dream of dreamers comes into form.

A mixture of wild races migrated to a new land.

With initiative, force of character,

and the gift of grasping situations,

they could visualize solutions,

baffling those restricted by the norms.

The newcomers begat

a cornucopia from the shoots of spring,

fruits of summer,

autumnal abundance

and roots that sustained life

through cold dead winters of the Earth.

Joyous moments are less often turning points

than the dramatic events of tragedies.

~

With righteous indignations, the newcomers understand

the message of smug hypocrites with curled lips

that disappear in the lines of a sardonic sneer

mottled with fear, jealousy and greed,

who use the pretence of color

to tragically deny a person’s worth.

Those who are different are accused of the ignominy of felonies,

including eating beloved pets

and gaining money by working at undesirable jobs

thus, stealing what should be wealth in the hands of others.

This is not the first time.

Darker skinned Igigi immigrants

became demonic fallen angels.

The disobedient children of the gods

violated laws.

They mated with mere humans.

Their half-blood offspring were outliers,

not always accepted into divisive groups of their origins.

Yet, with an open heart, the hybrid can transform the darkness of the soul,

and consuming bitterness of spirit

that in the past set germs that bred the bloodiest of revolutions.

The human child of divine immortals seeks to answer the riddle

of how to transcend the imposed crime,

that suggests they have chosen to assume skin colour

or been chosen, because of colour.

By looking deep within the irregular pulsing currents

streaming through the basins of their clay-coloured origins

they direct tectonic movements

by altering the stresses of pressures

and metamorphose the hard rock foundations

held within the crystal formations of the parental protoliths.

The simplest organic molecules

harnessed the energy of the rays of the violet and ultraviolet spectrum,

converting it into high-energy chemical bonds,

that generated molecular complexity

with self-organizing patterns

that control skin pigmentation.

Skin, a bidirectional self-regulating barrier organ,

holds sensory and computing capabilities

with systemic effects

that affect energy and stress responses.

Skin protects against an essentially hostile environment

by activating hormonal and neural signals,

thus, altering the subconscious, energy storage, and social communication.

Regardless of colour, each human carries a crown

that whirls through the cardinal points of the compass

allowing the children of earth to connect

to the heavens and the immortal infinite.

From what is hidden in nothing but the emptiness

they can access a secret treasure

to overcome the tragedies born of loneliness,

isolation, and inevitable death.

are accepted and diversity is respected,

without pursuing emotional desires for revenge or domination,

the earth-bound divine genius is able to craft dreams

by weaving the gossamer skeins of imagination into reality,

making a home and friends in a finite period of time.
