Progress

It is slow, and hard,

An uphill battle

Sometimes I see no results

It’s cliche but it’s true

Progress takes work

And work doesn’t come easily

It is uphill, both ways

In the snow

It is a new year, and new beginnings to aim for

It is a new era for the country,

New leaders with new backgrounds

It is a deliberate decision not to listen to haters

Or to smile more

Or to read a book

It might be small steps

But that’s ok

Progress only looks fast in the movies

Even if you need a microscope to see it

Even if no one else can

Progress itself is reason enough

To keep progressing
