In a filtered world

By Linda HatfieldPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Pink! Who do I want them to see?

The pretty me

The colorful me

The me I want to be.

Quick!

Take a pic…

Or maybe 26!

Purple! What do I want them to see?

The thin me

The popular me

The vibrant me I want to be.

# Hashtag. #

Red flag

Humble brag

Gray. No one wants to see reality

The tired me

The drab me

The me that’s really me.

Filter it!

Make it fit!

Counterfeit.

Brown. Baggage is weighing on me

Aging me

Muted me

Afraid to truly be.

Bring the bling!

Glitter that thing!

Make the imposter sing.

Blue. Could anyone love real me?

Baggy-eyed me

Overweight me

The dull me the mirror does see.

Fear

Insincere

Shed a tear.

Take away the cover-ups.

Reveal me

Expose me

Show the me I’m meant to be.

Brave!

Don’t be a slave!

Vivid me, I crave.
