My skin is one of a thousand shades of white.
Yours is the color of cocoa butter.
Our blood is the same brilliant red.
My hair is salt and pepper grey, cut short and wavy.
Yours is black, an eruption of coils that dance to the gods whenever you move.
All our eyes our brown, they light up to watch the pelicans fly overhead.
We face each other and share our joy through those eyes.
I love the blue of the autumn skies, they bring me peace.
You adore the yellow and red of fall foliage, they bring you joy.
Beneath, our bones are the same white.
You cry to see a child hurt, an animal hurt. So do I.
My flag is the rainbow.
Yours is BLM.
We are one in blood, we are one in bone and
In the white light of our spirits we are one.
