Printed on My Heart
A poem for a friend who has since passed on

Like an autumn leaf falling to the ground
You crept inside with barely a sound
Wrapping your fingers around my heart
Taking my life back to the start
I never expected you to stay
With you and I so different in every way
But it doesn't matter when it's right
As it was on that that random night
So take your precious little hand in mine
And leave the worries of life behind
They do not matter in the end
All that matters is that I call you "friend"
Come and walk along with me
And open your eyes to what I can see
The hidden soul deep inside of you
What I know to be so true
Often overlooked and cast aside
Always looking for another place to hide
Burying yourself in plain sight
Locking the door to your heart so tight
But for some reason opened it to me
You let me in as I did you to me
And if tomorrow the world should end
I would say I could not have found a better friend
So as my ramblings come to a close
One thing is left that we both know
As my life comes back to the start
You are forever printed on my heart
