Princess

A Poem of Hope for Women

By Alana Marie Published 3 years ago 1 min read

PRINCESS

Maybe he would be a no show, an absentee.

No Prince Charming arriving bravely.

No great man to save her, no white steed.

This Princess nonetheless was one of a different

breed.

Obscure, rather different from the rest.

Mixed full of emotion always up for the test.

No longer, scared, anxious, or depressed.

She didn't want anymore delay, to sit and holdup for

a life long stay.

She had a choice to make, a gritty one at that.

To relentlessly perch and stand by among the flat.

Or escape now, forevermore out that intimidating

front door.

Only accompanied by the castle, day after day. She

never had any say.

To let the time tick and tick, among the thick brick.

Second after second, minute after minute.

When was the limit?

Or to stand and say enough is enough, it was time to

be tough.

To become her own voice, to find her own

happiness.

To march about life showing her never ending

scrappiness.

To be her own rescuer, to become her own knight.

Oh what a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

She thought for a moment, followed by a split

second more.

It was an absolute no brainer to rush out that door.

She climbed upon that wild steed, with resilience in

her soul.

For there was now only one ambitious goal.

She rode off to be her own fairytale ending, filled

with laughter.

To find a new chapter to the story, to write her own

Happily Ever After.

The End
