Primal Screams

In Small Occurrences

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 8 months ago Updated 8 months ago 1 min read

I imagine the pinhead

That tears open the door

Spilling the unsaid

Flooding over the floor

Releasing how I feel

All at once, bursting free

Exposing what’s real

A raw, primal scream

That once, held by a thread

All it took was a nudge

Shaking the thoughts in my head

Stirring toxic dust

Severing the silence

With little intent

Trauma sourced response

By the things I never said

Will a primal scream ever be enough to shake all the dust?

So real, let it all out…give you peace afterward and release. Love how you describe the feeling. Excellent relatable poem.

  • Yes, we want to get rid of all that pent up frustration. Love the primal metaphor-leaves a raw sensation of what happens when feelings are trapped.
