Pride in Me

The colors of pride reside in my soul

By Heather ScottPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Red

The color of rage

The anger I feel at injustice

Blood shed for freedom

That is neither free nor equal for all

The rage of red

Orange

The color of energy

Surging through my veins

Free flowing creativity

Ever evolving, ever orbiting, electric

Energetic orange

Yellow

The color of joy

In its purest, simplistic form

Laughter from deep in my soul

Warm summer sun, a soft kiss, a gentle hand

The joy of yellow

Green

The color of curiosity

Questioning, discovering, nurturing

The spirit within

Nature in all its splendor finds

Curiosity in green

Blue

The color of calm

Deep, everlasting peace

An infinite sky, an immense sea

Above and below beckons the space in between

The calm of blue

Purple

The color of royalty

Kings and queens in beautiful things

Which one am I?

Contemplating in a haze

Of purple royalty

Pride

Patiently awaits inside of me

When finally after 40 years

I bravely step out

To be free and live life

In color
