Pride

A rainbow dream

I am alive with colour

It bumps and collides and releases

As ferocious emotion turned creation

A blast of hot jazz against a cool silence

Brave colour clashing against beige beliefs

Watercolours running together into fractured light

That bends and breaks

And bounces back as a rainbow

Thick oil paint smearing hope of a polychromatic planet

Charcoal smudged fingers creating bold lines

Demanding to be seen

To be scene

To be

Dark sea washed clean by a new day

Determined not to be erased

From a conservative blue and green globe

Daring to dance in rainbow puddles

Not just for our singular selves

But for all of us

Who bleed rainbow ink instead of tears

And use that ink to write our names

Across the big blue sky
