Cold so brutal
It sears my skin
Surprise assault
To parts exposed.
Exhaled clouds
Float behind me
Leaving tracers
Of where I've been.
Seeking heat,
Rush indoors
Warm oasis, yet
Succumb to shivering.
Inhale warm air deeply,
Gratefully.
Stand at frosted window
To peer outside.
The ground glitters
With icy flashes
Shattered, scattered mirrors,
Reflecting peril.
