Boundaries we try to hold so dear
To protect us from loved ones taking advantage of Us.
We say no with conviction
In our hearts, we want to help so badly
If we help or give in, we will only enable them
Snakes may shed their skin, but they are still snakes
Let's pretend we are tough, so we don't go back on our convictions.
Stop hurting yourself by being kind to those who pretend to care.
It is being kind to say no. Why the guilty feeling?
Because it's not who I am, A No man
I like to say yes to help somebody.
You might regret it and create a monster
You are not responsible for another adult's reaction to your answer.
Keep saying no with conviction when you know it's the right thing to do.
Do not let the guilt inside make you feel bad when you are really protecting
yourself from someone's destructive behavior.
Advocating for yourself is not a mask; you should not be ashamed of saying no.

🔥 Amen!
I learned this years ago, to determine when to say no...it was affecting me mentally, so i let go, concentrating on only the true ones. Very helpful message M.
I'm learning to say NO in order to take care of myself. It's difficult but I'll keep trying. Loved your poem!
Sometimes it hurts to say yes, and it hurts to say no. "Keep saying no with conviction when you know it's the right thing to do." - I agree!
Well expressed, Mariann. Sometimes guilt makes decisions for us. Guides us into things that don’t necessarily feel right.
We should always see that we are the most important person in our lives, and sometimes that definitely means saying no
This is such an empowering reminder, saying “no” isn’t unkind, it’s an act of self-respect.
