A future writer or a future failure

For weeks and days, the same sounds

The click clack of keys on a keyboard

A groan over silly mistakes

It’s been a journey of ups and downs

Many I cans and I can’ts

All leading down a new road

Though there’s light ahead

I can’t see any further

Than my finger hovering over the Enter key

To the right and left are all the what ifs

Publish here, publish there

Maybe never publish at all

The feeling of being inside a hurricane

The swirling debris of my choices so far

Holding me tight in this moment

The calm inside the eye

I can’t stay here forever

The hurricane is pushing forward

Stay and be battered by the past

Or let my finger press the key

A single key to make a change

A single key to forge a new path

In the silence of the storm

My future is everything and nothing

Writer extraordinaire, viral sensation

Faceless nobody, words never read

Until the key is pressed, I’ll never know

Hesitate and I'll still never know

It’s this one moment to decide

Closing my eyes, my finger presses Enter

Submit and wait for my new road to appear
