Poverty
I do this shit properly
Never shuts off
It’s my quandary

My rent is overdue
By more than a few months
My landlord said she’s through
She only wants her funds
*
I was overdue on a payment
The heat about to be shut down
It stated on their statement
That I was their biggest clown
*
I was once charged a fee
For speaking too loudly
Here’s what the officer stole from me
I no longer talk too proudly
*
So poverty has me constantly looking over my shoulder
And honestly I’ve only gotten even more bolder
The roaches only come out to play in the dark
Maybe that’s poverty’s trademark
