Happy Monday, everyone! Sometimes inspiration strikes with a single word, or in this case, five words. This poem was inspired by Poppy's Prompts #5.

***

I wish you were here

to see the painted sky

and the wind dancing across the water.

Capturing the scene

and trapping it in an envelope isn't enough.

The color erodes with time

so the image pales in comparison.

What you hold in your hand is a moment, frozen,

a sliver of when I watched the sun descend under the horizon.

So when it says it, I mean it.

I wish you were here.

This is a delightful poem using all the word prompts… so nostalgic 💜. ‘ The color erodes with time so the image pales in comparison. What you hold in your hand is a moment, frozen,.’✅

I adore the bittersweet feel of this. Those opening lines captivated me and the rest was just as addictive to read. I love how it came full circle, you did that so well.
