Porcelain Figurine
Positivity on the outside - despair on the inside.
Porcelain.
Fragile porcelain.
Very fragile porcelain.
I feel like porcelain.
A very fragile porcelain figurine.
This porcelain figurine is cracking slowly.
My soft voice doesn't tremble or break.
My gentle hands do well not to shake.
My smile doesn't falter or leave my reassuring face.
Because if these things should happen, I will surely break.
So I stay still as porcelain when hope shows its face.
I won't hold my breath, and I'll leave it up to fate.
Until it's over, I won't let my feelings show their grief-filled face.
I keep praying for the miracle that feels as close as the brink of dawn.
And I will keep executing every step to bring you back and end your suffering.
I will keep my porcelain smile, my porcelain hands, and my porcelain voice to comfort you.
And until a miracle or inevitability, I will stay a figurine to love and protect you
Until you're at God's Gate.
Dedicated to my mother.

Beautiful tribute. Even if the porcelain cracks and breaks, there is also Kintsugi. I feel like you could write a really cool paired poem with this one based on Kintsugi when the time is right. Sending you my love
