Poppies and Buttercups
A summer-inspired haiku

Scattered in the woods
Without care, wildflowers bloom
Dancing in sunlight

A/N:
Historically, poppies symbolise eternal sleep, death, and resurrection in myth and poetry.
For the first British remembrance, poppies were hand-crafted to be assembled with one hand, providing work for disabled WWI veterans.
All the parts of the pretty and silky yellow buttercups are toxic. Animals avoid them, but livestock can be poisoned if found in large amounts.
Buttercups glossy, mirror-like petals and special UV patterns trap and reflect light, helping attract pollinators.
Unique to buttercups, their petals often have nectar pools at the base; no other yellow flower shares this trait.
