You crack me open,
Like a pomegranate.
Pull at the warm flesh.
Lick at what is within.
Dig the fingers and tongue in.
Rip 'til
All my ruby red secrets spill out.
And you pick them up, one by one, by your teeth,
And devour
Your sweet juices mixing with mine.
You don't just fuck my body.
You fuck my soul,
My heart,
And my mind.
You rip me apart.
Destroy.
You remove my skin,
Rub yourself all over my soul,
All over my thoughts, memories.
Not missing one spot.
Then tenderly put it all back together.
Like a ripe pomegranate.

My poetry collection Beautiful and Brutal Things is done. It's actually done and finally published over 270 pages. Over a year of my life went into this book. More than a year, really. Long days at my computer, sometimes seven days a week because I couldn't stop even when I probably should have. Then two months of editing that felt harder than the writing itself.
