Gypsy Rose(Written 25 years ago)

Poem by JD Glasscock

Her accent is thick in it’s subtlety

A palpable substance that hangs

In the air

Like some sweet fragrance

Blissful in it’s tranquility

She makes me smile with

Quoted lines in poetry’s beautific form

Given as gifts

Over insubstantial phone

And with such acts

Shows me

I’m not alone

And with her presence

I find myself losing my

Security of fears

She takes me back

To the place

I left my tears

And when were alone she strokes

In tender touch

The grayness of my hair

And in such soothing motion

Shows me the innocence

In her heart so fair

And when my eyes melt to hers

I see the history in which her pain refers

And with this knowledge firmly in hand

Fingers licking tears from which her eyes cry

I reveal to her the truth of beauty’s touch

Which within her face resides

And hope that in this reflection

She finds

That the ugliness in her mirror is nothing

But a lie

But later on blissful days

Of the sun’s healing rays

We hold hands

And walk down by the fire’s side

Dreaming of a silver moon

From which hence first breath was drawn

We yearn to ride

And in the first glimpse of the sun’s dawn filled rise

Woods of forest brown I see reflected in here eyes

Which in clarity revealed

Inspire me to open secret closets

And confide

All the pain and misery which swells from deep inside

Memories cast down long ago

Which now come again on the evening tide

Which in itself engenders within

Confusion and surprise

Cajoling my soul to wake from sleep

Lift and rise

Swelling in it’s magnificence and sorrows

Thrice the size

A gypsy rose in reproachful past

Is what she appears to me

The morning dews and ocean breeze of the sea

And from within her eyes

I see myself set free

Free as the youth of the wind

Mountains and trees

And from within her flowered petaled graces

I find my truth

Beauty intimated by the fire’s side

Her quiet revered presence comforting

With visions of patience and time

Downy soft pillows casting me

From the ugliness in

Which I hide

To sweet embrace of lace and grace

Evicted from the memories in

Which I seed my crimes

And it is for this gift she gives to me

That for her, my gypsy rose,

I write this rhyme

Hoping by it’s favor

She will find

The sun which hides under her sea

The sparrow given in humility

By father time

With which feathers blessed

She will decorate the sky

Flying as birds from beginning should

Free

A gypsy rose forever treasured

For which my heart holds

The only key

Twelve(One of the first songs I ever wrote 25 plus years ago)

Lyrics by JD Glasscock

I'm going to tell you

a little story

about a boy

in search of love

He grew by the long road

living it rough

in the name of love

And it was down by the river side

he found his love on a pumpkin ride

down by the river side

he found his love on a pumpkin ride

Then along came another

turning his head side to side

So he went to his lover

shook her hand and said goodbye

And it was down by the river side

he found his love on a pumpkin ride

down by the river side

he found his love on a pumpkin ride

Then further down the long road

he found himself all alone

missing his love ten fold

breaking his heart

and selling his soul

And it was down by the river side

he found his love on a pumpkin ride

And it was down by the river side

he lost his love when the clock struck twelve

Infinite Promise

Lyrics by JD Glasscock

I find my limbs getting weaker

as the world is growing darker

and my voice an unheard whisper

in the crowd

A promise is a promise

in a dream I find solace

till I wake and the promises

are gone

For broken is broken

as the words are spoken

and truth just a token

on the ground

As a child infinite was

the shade of glasses I wore

believing there was always

more

hope behind every turn of road

till I stumbled upon

the first toad

croaking melancholy along

echoes of remorse

a bow backed horse

trudging the mud of humanity

and then the game was put upon me

and gray was the color most often

played on the stage

I find my limbs getting weaker

as the world is growing darker

and my voice an unheard whisper

in the crowd

A promise is a promise

in a dream I find solace

till I wake and the promises

are gone

For broken is broken

as the words are spoken

and truth just a token

on the ground

I'm all grown up now

and the whats and the whys

and the hows

are all listless

and underused

A promise was the infinite

that found it's grave

way too soon

just another fool

on a carousel

of unrequieted rule

Beautiful memory

Poem/Lyrics by JD Glasscock

So hard in a world

so full of hate and sorrow

to remember who you were

when you were a child

Easy to be lost

Easy to be lost

So I've traveled a hard end to a hard road

to let you know

you're so beautiful

so so beautiful

a memory of a simpler place

when we all walked in loving grace

So beautiful

So so beautiful

It's the heart in your eyes

the warmth in your touch

the truth that falls like candy in your trust

You're so beautiful

so so beautiful

So hard in a world

so full of greed and lies

to remember your first sunrise

and the way you smiled

and the way you laughed

Easy to be lost

Easy to be lost

So I've traveled a hard end to a hard road

to let you know

you're so beautiful

so so beautiful

a dream of a simpler place

when we all walked in loving grace

So beautiful

So so beautiful

So beautiful

It's the heart in your eyes

the warmth in your touch

the truth that falls like candy in your trust

You're so beautiful

so so beautiful

So beautiful

So so beautiful

Never stop believing

Never stop dreaming
