Poem: What Was She Thinking?

"THE RISING"

SImon Devitt Photography 2018 Winner.

A face bowed like a prayer upon the mount

Knees on all fours in submission like a Felidae or Canidae

What was Miss Hannah thinking?

Looking behind the background, the indefatigability of the tree

makes a solid impression that resonates with the audacity of humanity.

I doubt the Waipoua forest can contain this sacred tree, nor the rainforest of the Congo and Amazon can accommodate its splendour.

The grounds on which the red velvet touch signifies the fertility of mother nature.

As children of the soil we are bound to earth in life and in death in balance with nature.

Why would Miss Promise subject aesthete to this revelation?

The pains, growls, tribulation and struggle of humanity all washed down in red as the poppies in Flanders or the blood in the veins of mammals.

The artistic revelation of suffering that befalls us all.

It's a great gift fashioned upon us to exist and with existence comes sufferings. There is no escaping that.

How can we tap into the generosity of Miss Hannah Promise?

By her works of art.
