This heart is much like an empty home

vacant, but I prefer it this way

it's been awhile since I had reason

to make things just a little unsafe

I don't have much worth taking

maybe my time, maybe my life

you wouldn't know if anyone was home

because I always keep off the lights

I'm not afraid of losing anything of mine

I'd love to be the roof over your head

but I hate leaving my door open

waiting for what winds up dead

Sometimes I think I deserve to feel this

after all, I don't do much of a good job

keeping myself from getting lovesick

better to be numb than to sob

If you ever decide to come home

just know the door's still unlocked

bed's always ready, food at the table

ready when you are, if you're ever able
