Please God don’t let them be ill.

This thought it leaves me cripple -

Maybe I can change it with the power of my will

-

Every waking moment, I force to be still -

Then the prayers, they come in ripples.

Said in mantras to stop the kill

-

The words they leave me chill -

Aching for a little trickle.

That my cry has delayed the inevitable

-

Please God don’t let them be ill.

To hold no control, I simply can’t grapple -

I just need time to pause, to stay still

-

To quiet the noise, I take pill after pill -

But the prayers, they come in as a tidal -

I don’t think I’m praying of my own free will

-

Please God don’t let them be ill.

Please God I beg you - what can I give as collateral -

Please God don’t let them be ill.

Please God - not ill
